The city is expanding the possibilities of landscaping in gardens
In Tallinn, apartment associations can apply for funding for the construction or maintenance of landscaping, a total of 58,150 euros have been allocated for this grant in the city budget this year.
According to the Deputy Mayor of Tallinn, Vladimir Svet, the “Green Yard” grant aimed at apartment associations is the most popular grant for improving the city environment. “That’s why we decided to increase the budget by 14,150 euros this year. Thanks to the “Green Yard” grant, hundreds of apartment associations can enrich their backyards with landscaping and thereby make our urban space greener and more diverse. Right now is still the best time for autumn gardenwork, and planting and soil work can still be done,” stated Svet.
The City funding can cover up to 60% of the cost of works and materials retroactively based on cost documents. The maximum funding amount is 600 euros per apartment building per calendar year.
In total, 58,150 euros have been assigned for the “Green Yard” grant in this year’s budget, of which 42,257 euros have already been allocated , applications in the amount of 1,742 euros are pending, and free funds are 14,150 euros.
The budget of the Green Yard was also increased last year, and last year 162 apartment associations received support in the amount of 55,250 euros.
“When adding greenery to the home gardens, the recently completed catalog of Tallinn’s vibrant landscaping is helpful, where you can find suitable plants and certainly inspiration. Plants are not only pleasing to the eye, but also an integral part of the living environment of insects, animals and birds. If they are doing well in the city, our living environment will be better and we will be healthier. Therefore, everyone can make their contribution by landscaping their gardens so that the nature of Tallinn, as the European Green Capital, is rich in species,” said Kristiina Kupper, the city’s landscape architect. The catalog can be found at http://haljastus.tallinn.ee
You can apply for the “Green Yard” grant for landscaping or landscaping works in the yard of an apartment building.
