Competition garden Edible BUZZ

Created by: Maali Roomet Design

Landscape architect and designer Maali Roomet-Allese

The design divides the outdoor space into two: a free-form blooming and edible area with mixed plants on one side and a fixed-frame edible kitchen garden on the other. From the urban landscaping point of view, the purpose of the garden is very important today. Spaces are not created only for their aesthetic value anymore. Rather, having versatile functionality, growing edible plants and creating biodiverse environments through the design of outdoor space are important now.

The garden is also divided into two in regards to movement: a part that is in active use and a part that is for viewing. The part that is for viewing is pleasing to the eye for its blooming area that attracts insects and for areas with varied densities. The whole ensemble provides a visually beautiful result and the visitor is always delighted by something growing, blooming, playing or colourful.

Additional materials used: Wooden planter box and border of the planting area, various hardwood chip mulches.
