The aim of the competition is to encourage students to explore the environment around them and practice writing research papers and receive feedback from specialists.

Rules for the research papers:
● All grades 7-12 of general education schools can take part. class students.
● One work can be authored by up to two students.
● The work must be related to nature and/or the environment.
● Abstracts are not subject to evaluation.
● The paper is correctly formatted and APA citation is used.
● High school level work must be written in Estonian, elementary school work can also be in a foreign language (but the summary is in Estonian).
● The research paper must include the following parts:

  • TITLE
  • INTRODUCTION
  • LITERATURE REVIEW
  • MATERIAL AND METHODOLOGY
  • RESULTS (ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION OF RESULTS)
  • SUMMARY
  • LIST OF REFERENCES
  • APPENDICES (if necessary)

● Assessment takes place in two age levels: third grade and high school.

 

The research paper must be submitted electronically by March 1, 2023 at tema-aasta@tallinnlv.ee, keyword Research.

● In round I, each research paper is evaluated by 2 reviewers, and the jury selects the three best works in both age groups by April 1.
● In the second round, a maximum of 3 authors of the best work at the elementary school and 3 high school levels will be invited to present their research papers at the conference (which will take place on April 21, 2023 in Tallinn Botanic Garden).
