A species-rich backyard pond – how to build it so that everyone wins. Seminar-discussion and workshop in the conference hall and outdoor area of the palm house.

Various ponds located close together in clusters ensure a diverse life. It takes effort and real will to create a network of ponds in cities that is sufficient to sustain species-rich life. Every landowner can make a contribution by building even a small pond in the corner of the garden, which is suitable for both invertebrates and vertebrates to breed and live. Our summers are getting hotter and drier, why would garden ponds be a place where birds and hedgehogs could go to drink and cool off on a hot summer day.
The presentation deals with a species-rich home garden pond – the background and construction principles of garden ponds rich in life are introduced. They discuss how to build a pond in such a way that both the owner of the garden and the resident in the garden win. During a walk in the botanical garden, they look and discuss where it would be good to build a pond, which should be kept in mind.
The event is part of the special program of the European Green Capital in the Botanical Garden.
