“I’m not a guest, I live here.” Exhibition in the Palmimaja conference hall
Tartu Nature House’s playful urban nature exhibition invites us to notice living creatures that we don’t always notice and to care for the plants and animals living in the city. The exhibition introduces people’s natural neighbours in the city and offers food for thought about the values of the living environment and home. What living environment have we created for ourselves as well as for plants and animals?
The exhibition has been completed in cooperation between nature and creative people. For a good living environment to function, it is necessary to consider each other’s needs. “We need to understand the value of nature in the urban environment. If there is nature in the city, it is more pleasant for people to live there because people are part of nature – even if we tend to forget it,” says exhibition coordinator Annelie Ehlvest.
The exhibition presents various topics related to urban nature: the formation, development and environmental problems of cities; the city as an artificial community; living conditions of animals and plants in the city; different habitats: gardens, parks, cemeteries, alleys, natural and decorative water bodies; the attitude of animal and plant species to human activity, i.e. hemerobism. You can familiarize yourself with the register of city residents, listen to and watch sound images and play various games.
The event is part of the special program of the European Green Capital in the Botanical Garden.
NB! Visitors can participate in events with an entrance ticket to the botanical garden.
