Action day – restoration of sand lizard habitats
Sand lizards wake up from hibernation in spring when the temperature is 10-12 degrees. Sand lizards are under category II protection – species that are endangered because their numbers are small or decreasing and their distribution in Estonia is decreasing as a result of overexploitation, habitat destruction or violation. It prefers sandy heath areas or sand dunes as its habitat.
On action day in March*, it is planned to clear the brush from their habitat at the edge of the Pääsküla bog. The removed material is brought together, crushed, and wood chips are taken to fill the nature trails.
