Mossy plants in Tallinn Botanical Garden. Theme day outdoors
Iti Jürjendal and Tiiu Kupper, Tallinn Botanical Garden specialists
In the Tallinn Botanic Garden, in addition to the colourful flowers in the beds, there are initially less arousing moss plants that feel at home on the ground, stones and tree trunks. To celebrate Estonian Nature Day (August 14), we will introduce rare moss plants that grow naturally in the Tallinn Botanic Garden and were introduced here during the KIK project (2019-2022).
During the tour, we will introduce the world of moss plants (what is a moss plant, how can it grow on rocks, how does it reproduce, etc.), and we will talk about protected moss species and the ex situ nature conservation method.
The event is part of the special program of the European Green Capital in the Botanical Garden.
NB! Visitors can participate in events with an entrance ticket to the botanical garden.
