Tartu Nature House’s playful urban nature exhibition invites us to notice living creatures that we don’t always notice and to care for the plants and animals living in the city.

On the theme day, SA Things will introduce the possibilities of reducing waste generation and extending the useful life of things, as well as the collection of waste by type and why it is necessary.

FOOD AND ENVIRONMENT. THEME DAY IN THE PALM HOUSE CONFERENCE HALL AND CLASSROOM
The topic day will discuss different ways of growing food.

“LICHENS IN ANDRES SAAG’S PHOTOS AND ESTONIAN NATURE.” PHOTO EXHIBITION IN THE PALM HOUSE.
Andres Saag is an associate professor at the Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences of the University of Tartu, a lichenologist by profession. He has been photographing lichens since the beginning of this century.

WE MAKE LAWNS RICHER IN SPECIES. WORKSHOP OUTDOORS
The loss of habitats and biodiversity in urban environments is a serious problem. The workshop will teach how to make an existing species-poor lawn chamber in a garden or park richer in species.

NATURE CONSERVATION FAIR
On June 10, Tallinn Botanic Garden and the green capital will bring together organizations promoting and contributing to nature conservation from all over Estonia to give them the opportunity to present their activities in Tallinn Botanic Garden.

July 9
HEALTH OF THE BALTIC SEA. THEME DAY IN THE PALM HOUSE CONFERENCE HALL AND CLASSROOM
On the Baltic Sea theme day, the biodiversity of the Baltic Sea will be discussed in more detail, and in a slightly more playful way.

July 14
A SPECIES-RICH BACKYARD POND – HOW TO BUILD IT SO THAT EVERYONE WINS. SEMINAR-DISCUSSION AND WORKSHOP IN THE CONFERENCE HALL AND OUTDOOR AREA OF THE PALM HOUSE.
The presentation deals with a species-rich home garden pond – the background and construction principles of garden ponds rich in life are introduced. They discuss how to build a pond in such a way that both the owner of the garden and the resident in the garden win.

August 19
MOSSY PLANTS IN TALLINN BOTANICAL GARDEN. THEME DAY OUTDOORS
In the Tallinn Botanic Garden, in addition to the colourful flowers in the beds, there are initially less arousing moss plants that feel at home on the ground, stones and tree trunks.

September 23 October 1
“JOURNEYS OF PLANTS.” EXHIBITION AND WORKSHOP IN THE CONFERENCE HALL AND CLASSROOM OF THE PALM HOUSE
The exhibition presents the historical journeys of important food and consumer plants from their natural habitat to the region where they are grown as cultivated plants today.

OUR DAILY TEA AND COFFEE. FAIR TRADE THEME DAY IN THE PALM HOUSE CONFERENCE HALL.
We are talking about plants that have become an integral part of our lives in the context of fair trade.

November 11
GREEN THERAPY IN GREENHOUSES. THEME DAY IN THE PALM HOUSE CONFERENCE HALL AND CLASSROOM
On the theme day, different consciously created green areas are introduced, where plants are placed in a way that helps to influence people through different senses.

December 2
ORGANIC FOOD. THEME DAY IN THE PALM HOUSE CONFERENCE HALL AND CLASSROOM
Organic farming is an environmentally friendly production method. The theme day will briefly introduce the results of Estonian environmental monitoring and plant protection product residue monitoring in order to understand the environmental effects of food production.
